Stage 3 — Tender

A formal, competitive bid. Often you're one of several contractors being weighed.

Tender is the formal, competitive route to winning work. Where a Proposal is a quote you've sent directly, a Tender is a structured bid — usually one of several the client is comparing, often built off a Bill of Quantities (BOQ).

What happens here

  • The scope is pinned down precisely enough to price line-by-line against a BOQ.
  • Your submission is prepared and lodged by the client's deadline.
  • Revisions are tracked carefully — tenders go through rounds, and you must always know which version is the live one.

Your job at this stage

Precision and discipline. A tender is won or lost on completeness and accuracy. Make sure every item in the BOQ is priced, every assumption is stated, and the submission goes in on time.

What comes next

If your bid is selected, the project moves to Awarded: contract signed, deposit in, works set up.
