Partition & Ceiling
Drywall partitions and suspended ceilings that close up the space once the services are in.
Partition & Ceiling builds the dry walls and the ceilings that define the rooms. It's the trade that closes up the space — so it can only happen once every service that needs to hide above a ceiling or inside a wall is in and checked.
What it covers
- Metal-stud drywall partitions.
- Suspended and bulkhead ceilings.
- Access panels, openings and reinforcement for mounted items.
Where it sits in the sequence
After electrical, aircon and plumbing first-fix — you must not close a ceiling over un-inspected services. Before painting, which needs the wall and ceiling surfaces in place.
What a PM watches for
- Don't close up too early. Once a ceiling is boarded, anything wrong above it costs real money to reach. Walk the M&E first-fix and sign it off before boarding.
- Reinforcement for fixings. TVs, carpentry, grab bars and heavy fittings need backing inside the partition — agree positions before boarding.
- Access panels. Make sure every valve, damper and junction that needs future access has a panel. Retrofitting one through a finished ceiling is ugly.
