Vinyl Flooring

Resilient dry-floor finishes laid late, on a clean and level substrate, after the messy trades are done.

Vinyl Flooring covers the resilient dry-floor finishes — sheet and plank vinyl, LVT and similar. It's a late, dry trade: it needs a clean, level, dry substrate and it must come after the trades that would otherwise scratch or dirty it.

What it covers

  • Substrate preparation and self-levelling where needed.
  • Sheet vinyl, vinyl plank / LVT and skirtings.
  • Heat-welded seams in areas that need them.

Where it sits in the sequence

Late. After partition and the bulk of painting, and typically after the dust-heavy work is finished. It usually precedes only the final fittings, clean and soft furnishings.

What a PM watches for

  • Substrate moisture and flatness. Vinyl telegraphs every bump and lifts if laid on a damp slab. Don't let it start until the substrate passes.
  • Protect it immediately. Once laid, it's vulnerable to trolleys, dropped tools and grit. Board it over until handover.
  • Sequence against painting. A last coat of paint after vinyl risks splashes; agree the order with the painter.
